Scroll downThe Alpe di Siusi (in german: Seiser Alm) is the largest and highest alpine pasture in Europe and is located in the Sciliar area. The 56 km² high plateau is located in the Dolomites of the province of Bolzano (South Tyrol) in northern Italy and is surrounded by the peaks of the Sciliar, Sassolungo and Sassopiatto. The main villages are Alpe de Siusi, Castelrotto, Siusi allo Sciliar, Tires al Catinaccio and Fiè allo Sciliar.
This beautiful region is worth a visit if you are particularly interested in cross-country skiing, as it offers 80 km of beautiful cross-country ski trails, a large area for hiking in summer and walks in winter, romantic horse-drawn sleigh rides, Alpine skiing with 20 ski and chair lifts and 62 km of ski slopes and 10 toboggan runs.
The climate here is characterized by mild winters and warm summers. The average temperature in January is -5°C and in July/August is 18°C (max ca. 30°C).
Rainfall is evenly distributed throughout the year.
The vegetation consists mainly of spruce, larch and stone pine, in the lower altitudes mixed forest. In spring and sometimes also in summer, wildflowers such as bluebells, violets and gentian bloom on the alpine meadows. In autumn, the colorful forests can be admired.
